Usually a one-time OS permission, not the app — common on classroom machines.

macOS: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording → tick Google Chrome → then quit Chrome completely (⌘Q) and reopen it. macOS only applies the change on a fresh launch.

Windows: usually nothing to enable — just pick what to share.

Always choose Entire Screen (not a single tab or window): a hidden tab/window stops producing frames, so the video looks blank even though recording continues. Keep this tab visible while you record.
